Las Vegas Fan Conference

November 30, 1999

Setting: Seated from right to left is Kevin in black, Nick in a blue cap and top, Howie in a long sleeved white top, Brian in green, and AJ at the other end in red. The audience appears to be divided to create an aisle where there is a microphone on a stand with which fans stand behind and ask their questions.

There's a lot of screaming in the background, followed by a lot of talking as the host attempts to quiet the crowd for the questions to be heard.

First to arrive at the red-covered table is AJ, Nick, and Kevin as they begin to take their seats. Brian and Howie come thereafter.

Nick: What's up? (waves)

AJ: Hello

Kevin: Hi…Good afternoon (waves)

Boys greet each other

Brian: What's up you guys?

Nick: What's up dude? (to Brian)

AJ: I'm glad you got to make it in, man…good (to Brian)

Brian: No problem

Kevin: Hey guys…thanks for waiting.

Fan in the audience: This is on, right? This is on, right? Okay.

AJ: (singing) "…the power to move every mountain…" (from the song, Let the Music Heal Your Soul)

Kevin: Hi, what's your name?

Fan: Melanie.

Kevin: Melanie?

Brian: Hey, Lela…Lela

Fan (repeating): Melanie.

Host: You guys ready to start questions? (audience answers "Yeah!") Okay…can everybody be quiet so they can hear the questions? You guys, simmer down, simmer down…Okay, you ready? Girls, hey! Sit down, calm down…we'll get to your questions in a minute, but let these girls start first and then we'll get you, okay?

Fan: I'm Melanie.

Howie/Kevin: Hello.

Fan: Hi. How do you feel about little kids mobbing you and asking you to marry them?

Kevin: Very flattered, very flattering.

Nick: Kind of weird (Brian laughs slightly).

Fan: Hi, my name is Denise.

Boys: Hello/Hi.

Fan: Um, I was wondering how do you prepare yourself to get ready to go on tour?

Nick: How do we…? (looks beside him to Howie)

Howie: This tour here, um, we prepared about a month, actually, for it. Um, this is a continuation of our world tour which we started in Europe and, uh, back in May I think it was last…? (AJ: May) of this year here we took a whole month and did like two, two and a half weeks of dance rehearsals and then a good week and half of actual run-throughs up in Nashville, TN…so about a month. This is actually our longest preparation we've ever had for the tour. Normally in the past we've had a week if we were lucky, so…

Kevin: …just tie things up with our music and our band.

Fan: Hi, my name is Julianne (sp?) for KLUC radio, Las Vegas. (Brian: Plug it!) My question is for Brian, but also for the rest of you. I know you were on your way to Bible College before you joined Backstreet and, um, I'm just curious how do you keep your relationship with Christ grounded with all the women and all the materialistic things around you and how do you stay focused and humble?

Brian: Well, I think it has a lot to do, uh, with who you choose to acquaint yourself with, uh, how you act in public, how you deal with all this. Uh, it's not really a big deal to me, what we do, because we do something that we love and that's make music. Um, a lot of people that are outside of this business choose to make it more than it seems.

Howie sneezes. Brian, then the audience and the fan say "Bless You". The audience laughs and Howie says "Thank you".

Brian: (laughs)…and the gallery says "Bless You" (audience laughs). But um, I think it has to do with your families as well. A lot of us has very very strong backgrounds with families and beliefs and uh, good relationships with people that keep you grounded. We keep each other grounded. So, ah, it's always…it's always easy in this business to lose sight of everything but uh, when you have experiences, ups and downs, heart surgeries and things to deal with, you're just a human being like everybody else.

Kevin: One day at a time, one day at a time.

Fan: Yeah.

Brian (in a sing-song voice): That's all I'm saying (audience applauds)

Fan: Hi, I'm Tiffany. I'm with KLUC.

Kevin: KLUC.

Fan: Hi.

Kevin (singing like the beginning of the national anthem): Oh K-L-U-C (audience laughs)

Fan: (laughs slightly) O-kay…and, um (audience laughs some more)

Boys laugh.

Nick (repeating her): And o-kay…

Fan: Okay, I was wondering if you guys have done anything in Las Vegas since you guys have been here or since your last tour a year ago? (slightly under her breath: I don't know, I was there, but…) and if you guys did anything and what?

Brian: Well, some of us have turned 21 since last time we were here.

AJ: Yeah (audience applauds and cheers "whoo")…that's a bad thing.

Nick: …and that's not me (Boys laugh)

Brian: …one of us…

AJ: We actually…last night we threw a little party for our crew and our band and our dancers over at Studio 54 and just…'cause we don't really get a lot of opportunity to hang with our crew because we have to keep breaking the stage down and moving to the next city, so we don't really get to share a lot of time with them, and they're a great bunch of guys and girls so we had a get-together last night and then, um…(Kevin: …we're gonna play golf) we're gonna play at a charity golf tournament tomorrow for ah, VH1 so…(audience applauds and crows "Whoo") Hopefully we do good.

Kevin: Hopefully we'll hit the ball…

Brian: Fore!

Howie simultaneously with Kevin: Hopefully we'll hit the ball and don't hit somebody…

Nick: I'm gonna be digging up some dirt (Kevin: Yeah…) so…(slight laugh)

Fan: Okay.

Nick: There'll be holes in the fairway 'cause of me.

Fan: Alright, thanks.

Kevin/Boys: Your welcome.

Fan: Hi, I'm Dolly. I don't know if you remember me off the internet?

AJ: Mmhmm

Fan: I met you last night at the McDonald's where everyone was mobbing you (Kevin laughing in the background) and my sister, she ran up to you and she says "I'm Dolly" and she kisses you!

AJ: I remember you from…

Fan (interrupts): so I'm Dolly, I'm Dolly

AJ: Okay

Fan: I always liked you…and hey (to Kevin), you're my favorite. Sorry guys (audience laughs, Kevin: Well, thank you…). I love you! I named my cousin after you!

Kevin: You wha…?

Fan: I named my cousin after you.

Kevin: You named your…?

Fan: Named my cousin after you. He was born a week ago. His name is Kevin Scott.

Kevin: Oh, cool! (audience goes "awwww") Thank you! Cool!

Howie or Nick: Wow.

Fan: I love you guys and I'm happy you guys came back here. I'm so nervous (starts to break down, emotional and speechless)

Kevin: (soothingly) It's all good, take your time.

Brian: (soothingly) It's alright.

Fan: I'm so happy you guys came back to Vegas. I'm crying, I don't know why.

AJ/Boys: (soothingly) It's okay.

Fan: (really emotional, barely understood) …so happy…

Kevin (slight laugh): That's like me when we introduced Perfect Fan the other night…

Fan: (still emotional) …so happy you're in Vegas…(emotional again here)…my question was if you guys was to do a duet with a female artist, who would it be and why?

Kevin: That's something we wanted to do. We actually kinda did that with Shania when we did our TV special.

Fan: I have it recorded.

Audience laughs

Kevin: Um, but I think when the right song comes along and uh, the right opportunity, I think it will happen, but there's tons of we'd love to do. There's so many talented female artists out there, so…

Fan: My personal favorite would be Mariah

Kevin: Mariah? You think so?

Fan: You guys with Mariah

Audience applauds slightly, someone in the audience could be heard saying, "Yeah!"

Kevin: Thank you.

Fan: Hi. My name is Jessica.

Boys: Hi.

Fan: Um, my sister met you in Jamaica…Amanda…?

Kevin/Howie simultaneously: Cool, wow!

Howie/AJ simultaneously: MTV Spring Break

Kevin: Wow. That was a year, two years ago

Fan: My question is what do you think of NSync joining Jive Records?

Brian and AJ: Ooh, that's a good one!

Audience applauds and shouts, Boys laugh slightly

Nick: Well, now that we have the cameras on.

Brian: (jokes) I don't know that we have enough time.

Audience laughs

Kevin: What do you think?

Brian: Yeah, let's see what you think (with Kevin: …you think…)

Fan: Um, I think you guys are gonna be mad?

Boys laugh

Brian: Does it upset you in any kind of way?

Fan: Yeah.

Brian: Why? Why does it upset you?

Fan: 'Cause NSync sucks!

BIG laugh, shout, and cheers from the audience here. Brian bends forward laughing, his head down against the table as AJ looks at him. He lifts himself up again.

AJ (laughing): Yeah…yeah...

Brian: (laughs) Yeah what you said!

Nick in the background: Naw, I didn't say it.

Kevin: We, ah, for obvious reasons, we kinda definitely have a problem with some of the decisions our record company has made. Uh, and as you know, we're kinda in a little discussion with our record company right now but hopefully we can resolve things without fighting. Uh, it's frustrating when we work so hard to…to open doors and be individuals and try to get our careers started and then our record company makes decisions that just makes you really frustrated with the business because there are a lot of things that go on in this industry that are frustrating when we're trying to create and make good music and then all the business decisions, all the business kinda…kinda drags it down and takes away from how fun it is. So sometimes, the business…sucks. But the music is great.

Fan: Got a point there

Nick: Good question, though.

Fan: Hi, my name is Summer, and my question is for AJ. I wanna see your angel wings.

AJ: Ooh, I don't have those yet. I don't actually have the nerve to do it. I, um…

Brian: He's working on it.

AJ: I'm working on it 'cause, ah…

Fan: Well, then, show me your 69.

AJ: That I can do. (AJ stands up and shows his 69. He is wearing a white wife beater underneath his red top.)

Audience screams.

Kevin (jokingly): Is that a 69 or is that a hurricane?

AJ (joining in): It's a hurricane thing

Brian: It's a hurricane doppler

Fan: Thank you for showing me.

Fan: …and Nick, my little sister won't come to you. She's embarrassed to come to you, Nick.

Nick: Well, what'd I do?

Fan: She's embarrassed!

Someone in the audience says out loud, "She loves you too much!"

Nick: Well, sh… (? Broken, inaudible)

Fan: Well, my question to you is my daddy listens to your music. My grandparents said you're so talented. You guys' music is not just for young kids. It's for adults. I went to your concert last night and it was more adults singing along to your songs and you guys perform great.

Audience applauds

Boys: Thank you, thank you very much

Fan: (softly) I love you guys.

Light applause

Fan: Hi, I'm Shelly.

Boys: Hi

Fan: Hi, and um, I was wondering how does it feel to go to Las Vegas and not be able to go around the casinos without like everyone mobbing you (slightly laughs)

Kevin: (slightly laughs)

Howie: I went last night.

Kevin: We sneak around.

Nick: I can't.

Howie: I'm living la vida broka today (audience laughs)

Boys also laugh slightly, Brian sings, "Livin' la vida broka…"

Howie: Nah, we can still enjoy ourselves. We just take, uh, extra, uh, means of protection, I guess, but you gotta still be able to live your life.

Fan: Does it sometimes get like, annoying when you can't do stuff, though?

Kevin: Sometimes you just wanna be by yourself. Sometimes you just wanna get off in a corner and hide somewhere, be alone, be able to walk around and, you know. But, I mean, there are a lot of sacrifices, you know, with everything in life and just…whenever we go out now we just have to plan ahead, you know, like an hour ahead, we have to…

Brian: Sometimes you feel like a zoo animal, you know, people going (frozen frames at this point, video did not capture what facial gesture Brian made, if any. Some in the audience going, "awww"). Like when you're eatin', you know like you're gonna flip your food off the table or somethin' (jokes)…naw…(slight laugh from the audience)

Fan: Thank you.

AJ/Kevin simulaneously: Your welcome

Fan: Hey, fellas. My name is Jamie. I'm 20-years-old. I've loved you guys since '95

Boys: Oh, Wow!

Fan: I've loved the Spanish version of the song, and I wanted to know if I can sing a little for you? Is that okay?

Boys: Sure, sure

Kevin: What are you going to do?

Fan: Donde quieres…?

AJ/Howie: I'd Go Anywhere for You

Fan (sings): Donde quieres yo ire… (Boys slowly begin to softly sing along with her)

Fan: Howie, I love you!

Nick: She started on the right key, too!

AJ: We can't even get that right.

Howie: That's really good!

Nick: She's on the right key!

AJ: And we couldn't get it right.

Nick: She's on the right key!

Fan: Hi.

Boys: Hi

Fan: I'm Molly…

Kevin: Hi Molly.

Fan: My question is, Is it hard for you, with your families and all…is it hard for you, to like, go away and, are you, like…do you miss your families?

Kevin: Definitely

AJ: Mmhmm…

Kevin: …miss our families, friends, and our own beds…

Howie: Mama's cooking

Kevin: Mom, yeah, definitely

Howie: Spicy stuff

Kevin: …but we bring our friends and families out on the road to visit us. They come and hang with us on the road a little bit, ride on the tour bus with us so it's not too bad.

Nick: At the same time, too, I think we…we, over the years, we've kind of developed into a family ourselves, so I think it kind of compensates…

Kevin: Definitely

Audio captures Brian pretending to be emotional and faking a cry

Fan: Thank you

Boys: Thank you

Fan: My question was….

Brian (jokes): Didn't you just ask a question?

Audience laughs

Fan: No (laughs)

Brian: (laughs slightly)

Kevin (jokes): Wait a minute, what's going on here?

Howie: Double mint

Fan: How'd you get started with music and why?

Nick (under his breath to other guys, repeating): How'd we get started…?

AJ: Hmmm…

Kevin: I was always in the room with my radio on, always, when I came home from school. After football practice, I always had the radio on, always listening to music

Nick: Had his brush…

Kevin: My family…

AJ (following Nick): …and his brush…

Kevin: …singing in church, singing gospel in church, me and Brian's families and…music's just been a part of all of our lives since we can pretty much talk, I guess. We've all been singing.

Fan: Thank you

Boys: Your welcome

Fan: Hello. How are you guys? I wanna ask, I'm from Monterey, Mexico, and I wanna ask if you have plans to go to Mexico because there is telling that they're going, and then, no, yes, no…? And I wanna hear from you that, are you going to Mexico or Monterey?

Howie: Actually, I went to Mexico on behalf of the group about a year and a half ago…

Fan: …to sing or something?

Howie: I was just representing the group. It was during our time off and I went down to South America, to Brazil, Mexico, to…ah, (Kevin: to do press…)…yeah, just to do some press on behalf of the group but we're trying to get down to Central & South America on this world tour here. We haven't exactly been able to figure out exactly our schedule when, but it'll most likely will be sometime next year for sure.

Kevin: Yeah, we're putting, ah, our Spring leg of the tour together for next year so Mexico might be in there.

Fan: Okay, thanks, and a kiss for all!

In the background, someone, sounds like press representing Mexico is also present

Kevin and Howie: Hola, Me-hi-co!

Nick: What's up, Mexico? (slight laugh)

Same person in the background says something, inaudible

Boys: No problem

Fan: Um, my question was, since you guys have accomplished so much, what do you feel that you haven't accomplished yet?

Kevin: Wow. I mean, a lot of things that we could do better, I mean, you always want to grow, I think, with our singing, our writing, producing. I think that's the areas we wanna grow in more now as the writing and producing aspects for our next albums. Uh, but there's always room for improvement, always.

Fan: Okay, thanks

Nick: We've got cool ideas coming up for the future.

Fan: Hi.

Boys: Hello.

Fan: Uh, real quick. I just wanna know, Kevin did you see my father last night at 54 last night?

Audience and Boys laugh

Kevin: I met a lot of people last night, ah…

Fan: He said something about being a fashion designer or something

Kevin: What's his name?

Fan: His name was Rocky or he might have said Danny, too.

Brian breaks out singing the theme to the classic Rocky movie. Audience laughs at his silliness.

Kevin: I don't think I met him

Fan: Okay…well, anyway I wanted to interview you guys and I was real nervous about doing it, so thanks for doing it and I want to thank to 98.5 KLUC, too, 'cause they did this

Audience applauds

Kevin: Yeah

Fan: But since I want to interview you guys really badly, and I got the chance, who would you want to interview and why…anyone in the world, dead or alive?

Nick: C'mon, say it, Howie. Say, it Howie.

Howie: I'd like to interview the Pope.

Nick: I knew it! (audience laughs)…the Pope-a

Howie: …the Pope-a

AJ: Who'd you want to interview, Rok?

Brian: Uh…

Fan: They could be dead or alive…

Brian: Uh, James Taylor or Frank Sinatra probably

AJ: I'd like to interview the whole…the whole Rat Pack-Sammy Davis, Jr., all of 'em. That'd be real cool.

Fan: Okay

Brian: Elvis

Other guys slightly laugh, repeating: Elvis

Kevin: I'd like to interview Prince, the Artist formerly known as. (applause and cheers from the audience)

Fan: Thanks for answering my question…oh you didn't answer yet…?

Howie: That's cool (on Kevin's reply).

Kevin: C'mon Nick (audience joins in)

Nick: Well, alrighty. Um, the President

Fan: The President?

Nick: Wanna see what's on his mind

Audience and Boys laugh

Fan: Really?

Nick: What he thinks about.

Fan laughs slightly

Fan: Alright, well, I'm gonna go

Kevin: Okay, thank you

Fan: Thanks for answering it. You guys look good and everything, bye (says the last part rather hurriedly, a slight reflection of her lingering nervousness)

Audience loudly voices their agreement

Fan: Hi, my name is Brittany

Boys: Hi Brittany

Fan: I wanna know is do you guys have any girlfriends?

Brian: Everybody knows already

AJ: No

Audience cheers

Nick: No

Fan: What is you guys' favorite song out of the Millennium?

AJ: Off the Millennium album?

Howie: My favorite song is Spanish Eyes (audience cheers)

Nick: One simple reason, huh?

Howie: I'm a little biased.

Fan: AJ is so cute

AJ: Thank you

Fan: Hi my name is Lauren.

Boys: Hi Lauren

Fan: I'm with KLUC. Um, and I went to your concert last night and it was great, but my question is mostly for Howie and I wanna know how he learned to rap so good?

Audience and Boys laugh

Kevin and AJ: Hahaha

Howie: That was actually just a spoof. We were playing around in Europe (AJ in the background: C'mon, Howie…freestyle) and uh, we were all introducing our different people up there up on stage and…originally it was just for…we originally had the, uh, the breakdowns. We were just introducing the dancers separately and the instrumentals separately and, uh, so I was introducing Bubba, and he used to always do this little funky thing. (Brian is taking a drink of water in the background as the camera closes up on Howie)

Fan: Can you rap for us one more time?

Audience cheers Howie on

AJ: C'mon, D, freestyle…freestyle! Freestyle, D! Freestyle, baby!

Nick: Let's do it

AJ: Freestyle!

Howie: Give me the beat, give me the beat! Ready?

Freezed frames capture Howie looking toward AJ as Brian is smiles in the background watching Howie.

AJ: Give him a beat, Kev

Howie: Give us a beat, Kevvie

Kevin breaks a beat

Brian: That's like a club, man!

Kevin: Uh…

Nick: (makes a sound like a big blowhorn into the microphone) EH-UH!

Audience laughs

AJ: Just do what you do in the show, Howie…what you do in the show, D.

Nick is captured with his hands closed over his mouth. It appears that he is showing Kevin the right beat, which is heard to a more "old school"-style a la '80s. In the background, audio captures what sounds like Brian starting to rap, "Right about now…" then drifts off.

Kevin: Oh yeah. Let's go…

Howie: Alright, here we go…

Howie has microphone in his hand as he begins and Kevin sets the beat…

Howie: "Right about now, it's time for you to listen up. I'm gonna introduce you to, the trio in front of us. They go by the name of Sleepy, Baby, Bubba Brown. So give it up one time for the freaky, dinky Trio!"

AJ: Huh huh huh!

Audience CHEERS. Camera captures Howie with his head down against his right arm that is raised on top of the table, half-covering his face in seemingly slight embarrassment.

Kevin: You heard? He's gonna drop a solo joint doing some rap

Howie: It's called MC D Record

Brian: You heard? (Fan: Thank you) Word!

Howie: Kevin's gonna back me up

Kevin: I'm gonna produce it.

Howie: You heard?

Fan: I love you, Nick

Nick: (laughs) Thank you

Audience cheers "whoo!" Fan laughs

Fan: Thank you

Brian: Hey did that tattoo hurt on your arm?

Fan in the audience (sounding distant, probably away from the microphone at this time): Just a little bit…

AJ/Kevin: I like the shirts…shirts are cool!

Kevin: 2000…

Howie: …commercial

Fan: Hi guys

Boys: Hello

Fan: Um, we went to 54 last night and we saw you guys, Howie and AJ especially, thanks for being nice to us. You guys are wonderful…

AJ/Howie: Thank you

Fan: Um, and I'll be blunt: where are you guys going tonight?

Boys laugh, talking almost simultaneously

Howie: I don't know

Brian: I'm going to bed!

Kevin: Tonight's probably gotta be…

Nick: …big ol' tournament tomorrow…

AJ: Yeah, tonight's gonna be early tonight 'cause we gotta get up and play golf

Fan: This is party city, we got a lot of clubs! (trying to coax the guys to stay up and go out)

Kevin: Oh man

Nick: Wrong golf cart

Fan: Wrong jingle? (laughs slightly)

Kevin: We gotta get some rest tonight (Boys talk simultaneously) Yeah, we're playing golf, we gotta be on the point

AJ: We don't wanna look bad on national television

Fan: Well, thank you

Boys: Your welcome

Brian: Can't burn the candle at both ends too long

Fan: Hi my name is Crystal (Kevin: Hi Crystal). I was just wondering, um, what is going to be the next single off your album?

Howie: I think we're gonna do Show Me the Meaning (Kevin joins him at the same time: Show Me the Meaning)

Audience cheers

Kevin in low voice sings, "Show Me the Meaning…"

Howie: It's not official yet, but we think that's probably gonna be the next release for Christmas time.

Fan: Thank you

Kevin: Your welcome

AJ in the background can be heard saying something to the effect of (softly), "I want Don't Want You Back…"

Kevin (commenting on what the next fan is wearing): Backstreet Girl.

Fan: Hi, I just wanna say AJ, my cousin…right there…likes you (under her breath, barely audible)

AJ: Oh, hi

Fan: …she loves you

AJ: Thank you

Fan: …and Nick, I love you.

Nick: Oh…Thank you

Fan: Oh and Kevin, I saw you as Aladdin. You were really cute…a long time ago

Kevin (laughs slightly): Oh, thanks

Fan: And um, but my question is for Brian. I have a heart problem, kinda like yours, (Brian: Mmhmm…) and I've had, I think, like 8 surgeries by the time I was 5 and I'm-I'm good now, but, like, it was hard, so what I wanted to know what was the hardest-scariest thing about surgery?

Brian: Wow, you had 8 surgeries before you were 5? What did you actually have done? Do you know specifically?

Fan: I don't know specifically but I have a pacemaker

Brian: You have a pacemaker? Well, fortunately, uh…well, let me just answer your question. One of the hardest things for me to deal with was, uh, the physical aspect and the emotional aspect because we were just coming off of a tour, um, and I had known for like 6 months that I had to have surgery. Um, our schedule was so grueling that I had to back up my surgery and reschedule it twice because of the fact that I couldn't get off a tour. Um, so knowing that we were on tour and singing and doing all of this stuff and I was in great physical condition to know in my mind, uh, emotionally that I had to go and have surgery, that was one of the hardest things to deal with. Um, I try to just block it out and not deal with it until the night before the surgery when I checked into the hospital, so I told them to…take care of me with a medicine 'cause I didn't want to remember anything, so (laughs slightly)

Fan: Thank you

Brian: (smiling) But congratulations with you. I'm glad that you're feeling better.

Audience applauds.

Fan: I love you

Another fan: My name is Raven (clears her throat) and I went to your Anaheim show, too, on Thursday, and I lost my voice. (Boys laugh; she SOUNDS like she lost her voice!) Do you guys have any, like, weird hidden talents?

Brian laughs

AJ: Weird?

Nick: We've got Howie. He's got rapping

Kevin: Weird…hidden…talents…

Howie: Mmm (clears his voice)…Well, uh…not that I know of

Nick: (laughs)

AJ: I wish I did, ah…

Brian: AJ, you got some impressions, man (AJ: What?) You do like Bullwinkle

AJ: All I can do is Bullwinkle

Fan: Could you do it for us?

AJ: Bullwinkle? (laughs)

Howie: C'mon AJ

AJ: (jokes and points toward the audience) "Marcus says you"-naw. Um, the dumb parts I gotta do this with my hands 'cause that's how I do it

Slow motion and frozen frames only show AJ retracting his outstretched arm from pointing but audio captures his Bullwinkle impression [personal note: He's good!]

Audience cheers "whoo!" and applauds

Fan: Hi. My name is Marissa. I was just wondering when you guys' gonna come out with your next album?

Brian: (laughs and sighs slightly) We get that a lot…

Nick: We…

Brian (interrupts): Don't give too much

Nick: I'm not gonna give too much. We were just coming up with some cool ideas. We were just actually the other day talking about when we're gonna come out with it. I don't know…it's gonna probably be late late next year. I don't know…

Kevin: Yeah, we still got a ways to go with this album. Got a couple more singles on this album and then we're gonna take a little break, start recording and writing for the next album, so…

Fan: Thank you

Nick: It'll be really cool, though

Fan: Thank you

Fan: Hi, I'm Cathy. How, Nick, since you're always on tour and your brother Aaron's always on tour, how do you guys keep in touch and keep a great relationship?

Nick: Phone. The phone's really helpful (slightly laughs), especially when I'm in Europe and he's in America. Um, just recently I came to surprise him. He was doing a show in, uh, in Canada and I went to surprise him. It's just-just making a conscious effort to, you know, to see him, and-and just, you know, knowing that, you know, he's my family and I love him and you gotta sometimes make sacrifices and you can't always be with them, but you know, know that I'm there for him at heart and he's there for me…so it's cool.

Audience: Awwww (slight applause)

Fan: Hi, I'm Brittany. (Boys: Hello). Um, my dad's a singer also, and I used to travel a lot with him. So, I was just wondering where you guys like to travel?

Kevin: (repeats for clarification) Where have we gotten to travel?

Fan: Yeah, where do you LIKE to travel…

Kevin: Oh where we LIKE to travel.

Howie: Hmm…

AJ: I like traveling in the U.S. better than traveling in Europe because, I mean, it's a lot of long drives in Europe and it's always just cool to be in the States, 'cause, you know…

Brian as he watches AJ: …we could speak English

AJ: …we can speak English, and you know, there's REAL McDonald's here (fan and audience laughs slightly) and it's just…you know, traveling here is, is lots of fun. You can go see American movies, you know, everything's up to date, it's just good to be home, and you know you're always, uh, no more than a 6, 5-6 hour flight from home, so, you know, instead of a 20-hour flight…or something like that, so…

Fan: M'kay

AJ: I like touring here the best

Fan: M'kay

Howie: Is that your hat?

AJ: I like your hat, by the way. It's cool

Fan: (sounding distant, probably away from the microphone at this point) Oh thank you…we can trade if you want it

AJ: I don't have anything to trade, but I

Howie: He'll take it, in other words

Audience laughs/stirs slightly

Kevin: Oh he'll take it, definitely

AJ: I'll just get that…

Audio captures AJ and the audience making sound as if the hat has been thrown and he tried to catch it

AJ: Ooh, Oof, I got it

Fan: Got it?

AJ: Thank you, by the way

Video and frozen frames capture AJ bending toward the floor at the end of the table to pick up the fallen item.

Fan: Um, my name is Melinda…hello? (slightly under her breath, as if trying to get their attention)

Frozen frames as she said this capture the Boys looking toward AJ as he is still picking up the hat off the floor. Fan laughs slightly as if from watching the Boys

Howie: (attention back to fan) Hi!

Audio captures AJ barely audible saying something to the effect of, "Looks good on me." Howie laughs.

Fan: (repeating) My name is Melinda and Nick…

Boys: Nick? Cool…

Fan: My name is Melinda and Nick, can I see your tattoo?

Nick: (sounding slightly hesitant) You wanna see my tattoo?

Audience yells out, "Yeah!"

AJ: Hey, I showed mine, Nick. You gotta show yours…I showed mine. You gotta show yours.

Nick: I'll show you one of 'em…'cause the other one is harder and…have to take whole shirt off…

Fan: Okay…that's fine.

Audience cheers. Nick appears to be pulling the collar of his top down enough to reveal his shark tattoo on his upper arm. As he does this…

Fan in the audience: (sounding distant) wait, wait…Yeah!

More cheers from the audience

AJ: (sings) Shark boy!

Brian: (sings)…"You hit me faster than a…"

Fan: Thank you!

Fan in the audience: (sounding distant) Again!

Slow motion and freezed frames capture a slightly side close-up of Nick, smiling

Nick: Again?! I'll show you after photo op.

Fan: Hi, I'm Samantha. I was just wondering, is it scary knowing the hurricane's down in Florida?

Kevin: It was a little bit but now I think it's safely through and nothing got tore up…

Howie: There's another one down there now

Brian: Which one are you talkin' about? You talkin' about current or you talkin' about Floyd?

AJ/Howie/Brian/Kevin: (talking simultaneously) Irene

Fan: Irene.

Brian: Oh Irene.

AJ: Irene's down there now

Kevin: She just went, through. She's cleared Florida

Brian: She's headed toward Charlotte again

Nick: Well, we've lived in Florida all of our lives, and, you know, hurricanes' just one of those things we deal with and…

At this point, the statements below were made kind of simultaneously, interweaving, as the Boys became more animated discussing the Anaheim earthquake.

Nick: I like…

Kevin: At least it's a hurricane. You can't run from an earthquake.

Nick: Yeah! (talking lively now) We were in an earthquake in Anaheim…it was scary!

AJ: Scared the heck out of me the other day…I didn't feel it. I was in a car. (laughs) I was in a car. I didn't feel it

Kevin: I was ready to jump off my balcony into a palm tree!

Nick: (in a laughing tone) We were gonna jump off and hang on a palm tree! (laughs slightly)

Howie: It was scary

Fan: Thank you

Nick: You wanna ask a question, miss? (coaxing) Go ahead…

Fan: (in a slightly quivering voice, emotional) My name is Brittany and I came all the way from New Jersey. Um, I've wanted to say this for a long time. Because of you I didn't kill myself. Um, I'm a junior in high school right now, but freshman year, I had a lot of problems. Um, I was sexually harassed and frightened and called everything you can think of and it hurt a real lot. But your music inspired me to keep on living and with you, I made a lot more friends. Um, it helped me so much and I'm so happy you guys came out and I have a lot of friends because of your music and every day, I'm happy because I can sit there and put on my CD player and listen to you and even my chemistry teacher is going to let me listen to you in chemistry because he knew it would make me happy and I can't do without it in school and because of you, in my locker I have a photo with me everywhere I go because I can't get through a day without seeing you because I get so scared they hurt me so much. I want to thank you guys, because…

Brian: Tell them we said to leave you alone or we'll come and get them

Slight laughter and applause from the audience

Howie: …or we'll come out after 'em

Nick: And another important thing also is that this-this is the type of reason why we love to do what we do…to help people

Audience applauds

Fan: Thank you guys so much

Kevin: You're very welcome. God bless you

Fan: Oh my God, I don't know what to say-she asked my question. (laughs slightly) Um, she asked my question about your tattoo so I don't know what to ask, but…

Brian laughs slightly, smiling

Nick: Think of somethin' (barely understood)

Fan: …I just wanna say I love you, Nick, so much (slight "awww" from the audience)

Nick: Thank you

Fan: …but my friend is going to totally kill me because she's not here with me

Another fan: We got tickets for her, too (first fan: yes…), and she's in Colorado.

Nick: Really?

Other fan: We went through so much to get here. We got so grounded.

Audience and Boys laugh

Brian I think: Oh oh

Other fan: We were supposed to order tickets in Colorado and we ordered them here in Las Vegas…

AJ: We don't want anyone to get grounded

Other fan: …and…kinda…got…in…trouble

Kevin: You guys are from Colorado?

Other fan: Yeah

Kevin: Ah…

Nick: Having fun?

Kevin: Did you come here by yourselves or you got family with you or…

Other fan: My mom's here

Kevin: Kind of get in town?

Other fan: Drove in a car

First fan: We all came in one car

Kevin: Okay, so you won't get in trouble for being here, okay

Other fan: Sorry

First fan: No, I just wanna say I love you, Nick, so much

Other fan: We love you

Nick: Thank you

Kevin: Thank you.

AJ: (barely audible) Thank you.

Kevin: Be careful driving back home

AJ: Don't get in trouble

Fan: Hi, my name is ~ (can NOT understand; somewhat muttering quickly under her breath). AJ, your mom is so nice.

AJ: Thank you

Fan: 'Kay, I got these key chains (somewhat muttering quickly under her breath) Those were pretty nice. Okay, you know your song, Who Do You Love? It's like, my whole family fell in love with that song and they were, like, so disappointed it wasn't on your album. It's like, do you plan on making it a single or something?

Nick: Who Do You Love…

Kevin: It might be on the next…

Nick: There might be a lot of songs…

Kevin: It might be on the next one. We love that song, too.

Fan: Can you sing a little please?

Kevin: What's that…?

Fan: Can you sing a little? (Kevin: sing a little?) Yeah

AJ: We can do the chorus (freezed frames still has Kevin captured looking toward AJ). Haven't done it in awhile.

A few seconds of vocal tuning from AJ and Brian and…

Boys: "Who do you…"

They break off.

Brian: (to AJ) You and me sing the same part?

Audience laughs slightly

AJ: No…

Boys are all tuning their vocals. They are sound like an orchestra before the main show tuning their musical instruments.

Nick: Just do the chorus (looking toward AJ and Brian). Just do the chorus…

Kevin: Wow, we haven't done this in awhile. Hold up, let's work it out (looking across the table toward the other guys)

More vocal tuning from the Boys

Brian: No, I sing a different one!

Audience laughs at Brian's sudden outburst amidst the vocal tuning. Freezed frames capture Nick and Kevin at the right side of the table looking at AJ and Brian at the other end.

Vocal tuning continues. Boys say, "We got it." AJ and Brian are elbow nudging each other.

Nick: We haven't done the song in like, 2 years

Howie: …a long time

Nick: …three years

Boys look at each other, saying, "Ready?"

Brian: One, two, three, four…

Boys: "Who do you love?" [Personal note: WOW! Incredible harmony!]

Brian: "Tell me, who do you love?"

Boys: "Who do you love?"

Brian: "Girl I know you are torn between what was and what could be…" (Boys in background harmonizing, "ahhhh…")

Boys: "I wanna know, gotta know, wanna know, gotta kno-oh-w…"

Brian: "Who do you love?"

Boys: "Da dum, da dum, (Nick: "uh") da dum, da dum…" (Brian is slightly rocking back and forth, his head bobbing up and down.)

At the end of the song, Kevin (in low voice): Huh huh huh

Audience CHEERS.

AJ: "I always drive in…" (Brian beside him outstretches his hand, pretending he is driving)

Nick: This is how we got started, how we got our record deal

Kevin: …haven't done in a while

Nick: …a cappella, so…haven't done in awhile

Kevin (in a really low voice): I've got a bass today, boy…hummm…

Fan: Hi, my name is Chelsea

Boys: Hi Chelsea

Howie: That's a pretty name

Fan: My question: when you first started the band, were you ever homesick?

Boys: Oh yeah

Nick: I was particularly homesick 'cause I was, like, 12 years old when we had the group, so…

Howie: At least when we toured around, like, high schools and middle schools back in the early days and um, I remember it was, I think it was hard to get adjusted to it. You know, thank God we had each other. That's when we got to know each other the best because we were actually sleeping together in the same rooms, you know…

Brian straightens up in his chair, turns to Howie, and gives him this odd look. Audience laughs at what his last statement implies. Nick takes a sip from his glass of water. Howie gestures with his arms as if trying to calm down the audience, bobbing them up and down…

Howie: You know what I'm talking about…we had double beds…(Kevin laughs)

Brian: (jokes) Howie, man, roll over! You're taking all the covers! (pats Howie's arm)

Audience laughs slightly

Howie: (jokes) You're snoring too loud (Brian fakes a snore)

Nick: …talking, too

Fan: M'kay. Thank you

Howie/Brian/Kevin: Your welcome

Fan: Hi, my name is Lovely

Kevin: "Lovely!" Cool…

Fan: (laughs slightly) I wanna ask you some questions. Um, I'm with the KLUC. Brian, my sister loves you so much. When I was coming here, she was like, "Ate"-'cause it means "Ate" means older-older sister-she was like, "Ate, you gotta kiss Brian for me!" I was like, "No, that's alright"…I mean, I would, I would…

Brian: Naw, that's okay…ain't gon' do that

Fan: I know. Anyways, you guys are great! A lot better than anybody! I mean, NSync…I mean, 98 degrees…'cause you know, I used to love NSync. I used to be like, "Oh my gosh, they're so fine" you know but my best friend started liking you guys and she would always, like, watch the tape and whatever and I was like, "Wow, they're pretty good! They're a lot better than NSync! So I should, you know…" Anyways, I got a question for Nick Carter and um…(laughs slightly)

Nick: Oh oh…

Fan: Um, you know on you guys' Millennium album CD, you guys' um, on your thank-you-letter section, you wrote, "I personally wanna say…" and then that's been bothering me for, like, months and you said "5-4-8-3 5-4-3-3" and I tried to figure it out…I don't know

Nick: That was just-It was like a little code thing that I wrote. Um, some people, some people actually…it's like, it's like…a phone decoding thing. (Fan: Mhmm…)…Um, some people, some fans actually decoded it a couple times and…

Fan: But what is it?

Nick: It-it says, I said, "Live life to the fullest for the future is scarce.", you know, and what I mean by that is you live your life to day by day and you, and you, have fun, because you never know.

Fan: So why do you have to code it? When, you know…

Nick: …you know, just havin' fun

Fan: It's a good message, and um, what kind of coding is that? Is it like a pager?

Nick: Naw, like a phone, like a phone…

Kevin: Yeah, like a pager

AJ/Brian almost simultaneously: Yeah, like if you get a page…

Kevin: …someone pages you, and you leave, like, 1-2-2-5

Fan: Yeah, like I love you, 1-4-4-3…

AJ: 1-4-3, I love you and like that

Fan: AJ, my friend, my best friend loves you so much. She has like, I mean, your pictures are everywhere…she's, oh my gosh, she's crazy about you. She just wanted me to mention you. I mean, I have a question: Are you still with Amanda?

AJ: No

Fan: Why not?

AJ: We still talk. We're still friends. Um, she's got a career that she's getting ready to start with and doing acting and she hopefully will do a solo album eventually. Hopefully I'll be able to help her with that, but schedules just too hard, you know, just really hard to… maintain a good relationship. So…

Fan: I have one more question for…okay, for Brian. Um, (Brian: Uh huh…) So, I heard you are living with your girlfriend now, right?

Brian: Uh, she stays with me occasionally, sometimes

Fan: Yeah, and are you guys planning to get married someday?

Brian: Possibly, possibly. Who knows?

Audience: Awww. [personal note: Actually, they sounded more like they're moaning "ohhh". LOL] Brian laughs slightly at the response.

Fan: That's cool. Thank you

AJ: (to Brian) You're getting old, man

Brian: (in a funny voice sounding like an old man) I'm getting old! I turn 25!

Nick clears this throat.

Fan: Hi. I'm Rachel. I was wondering if you guys are even going to be doing any solos in your concert?

Kevin: You mean during our show tonight?

Nick: (almost simultaneously) This your first show you're seeing?

Fan: Uh huh

Nick: You gonna see us tonight? We don't do that in the shows right now.

Kevin: In our past tours, we've like, we've like…stepped out and each done a little something and we might include it in the future tours, but on this tour, we're not doing it.

Howie: We got too much material…knock on wood (Howie knocks on the table)

Kevin: Yeah, we got too much material to do that.

Brian: We do 20 songs in the whole show. So it's a lot to…

Fan: Thank you

Brian: Your welcome

Kevin: We used to do that, like, to give each other a break during the show. To give each other a rest, we would each do a solo thing so each of us could be backstage going (motions like he is tired, breathes heavily into the microphone)

Nick: (slightly laughs) Now it's non-stop doing that stuff

Fan: Hi

Kevin: Hello

Fan: My name is Dezi and I'm originally from Europe and I've been, like, following you guys around for, like, 4 years. I've been in love with you guys

Kevin: Cool

Fan: And I was wondering if you could say to my friend in Europe in Germany, Yvonne? Can you say "hi" to her, 'cause she's in love with you. She's been to, like…

Howie and Kevin greet her in German

Fan: (laughs slightly) Yeah, (German greeting)…because she's been, like, to 4-5 of your concerts. She loves you guys, and…okay, they asked two of my questions. I don't know what else to ask except, how do you guys, like, find girls…just on behalf of all the fans? How do you, like, find girlfriends? Where do you meet these girls, you know? Would you ever date a fan or anything?

Howie: I think, yeah, people are people.

Brian: (raising his right hand straight up in the air, his other hand holding up his arm. He waves his hand excitedly) Pick me!

Audience laughs

Howie: I mean, I think we're constantly looking for people that are supportive of our careers, which is not very hard to be…

Fan: How about me? (laughs slightly)

Brian laughs slightly and smiles

Howie: …you know, who has a career of their own as well, have a mind of their own, have ambitions and dreams, and goals. Um, and just somebody who can be there for us, because on the road, sometimes it is lonely and you know, you just wanna be able to have someone to talk to (AJ: and trust…) …Exactly, trust.

AJ: …trust. Try to find someone that can care about you, like, you know, care about, for me, for Alex instead of AJ, somebody outside of being a Backstreet Boy, that cares for you as you, not the person that they see on stage. It's just…it's really hard, 'cause you know, you gotta put your trust in somebody and you're always gonna be taking a chance, but…

Fan: Nick, what's your opinion on this?

Nick: My opinion?

Fan: Yeah, you're always so quiet

Nick: Ah…

AJ: No he's not. Really. He's not.

Nick (slightly waves his hand): Not…never

Fan laughs slightly

Kevin: He's really not quiet

AJ/Brian: He's not. He's just like that right now.

Nick: Nah. I just…I agree pretty much with them what they say.

Fan: Um, my friend Leah wants to know how do girls get in your video because she's major shy and she can't want to come up here. She's the one in the red shirt with her hand on her face

AJ: Hi

Fan: And she wants to know can people audition for your video, 'cause she wants to be a singer and she sings good.

Brian: Well, we have, when we do specific videos, dance videos and stuff…when we deal with dancers, um, our choreographer, Fatima Robinson-she picks the dancers and goes through them for us. Um, when we're dealing with actors and actresses, uh, sometimes we have a casting director who comes in from Los Angeles or something and picks people. You look at head shots. You see the people before you actually choose them, so… actually, other people do that, you know, for us…kinda to make it easier for us to focus on what we have to do.

Fan: And are you guys ever planning on doing a duet with Peter James Andre, the European singer? He's from England…

Fan: (tries to clarify) Peter James Andre…

Nick: Peter Andre?

Fan: Yeah, yeah! Oh!

Brian: Peter Andre…we haven't heard his name for a long time

Fan: Well that's his middle name

Nick: We haven't talked to him in, like, a year

Fan: You don't talk to him anymore?

Kevin: We used to tour with him…

Brian (other guys join in): We haven't talked to him in awhile…

Fan: 'Cause I heard you guys were friends, okay…

Kevin/Brian: Oh, we ARE…yeah.

Fan: Okay, well, I wasn't worried. I was just saying…(kind of incoherent, muttering quickly)…O-kay, alright and…(as if not sure what else to say, reflects slight nervousness)

Kevin: Bye

Fan: Oh, okay! (sounds confused)

Kevin: No, I thought you were getting ready to turn around…I was just gonna say goodbye…you got another question?

Fan: Oh I remember now, I remember. Did you get my note? It was written on a tissue paper from Ron Coach? I gave him a big note to give to you guys

Kevin: Who'd you give it to?

Fan: Your photographer, Ron Coach

Kevin: Ron…

Fan: Ron…(?) photographer?

Kevin: Oh…

Brian: Haven't met him

Howie: …don't know

Fan: I can write another one, that's okay.

AJ: We'll find him

Fan: And Nick, you are so beautiful, I mean, really good looking. (Audience cheers)

Nick bends his head. He brings his cap further down over his face in a gesture of slight shyness. Camera pans out to audience. Audience member yells out, "Take off your hat!" Others in the audience join in, calling out, "Take it off!" and "What's the matter with you, Nick?"

Nick: I can't let my banana come out! [personal note: Yes, this is what I think I heard. I have rewinded this time and again thinking it's bandana, and I swear that's what he said! I'll leave this up to your own interpretations, and if I am right and you know what the heck a banana is as it refers to this instance, let me know so I don't feel totally clueless or begin thinking that my hearing is starting to go. LOL:o)]

Audience cheers. Camera is still panned out to audience for the next fan, but cheers from the audience suggests that he obliged, though probably quickly and temporarily.

Fan (older teenager): Hi, my name is Stephanie.

Kevin: Hi Stephanie. How're you doing, Stephanie?

Fan beside Stephanie (young girl): Hi my name is Courtney

Kevin: Hi Courtney

Stephanie: And we came out all the way out from New Jersey

Boys playfully mock local NJ accent, saying, "New Joi-see"

Courtney (in small voice): We love you all, and we especially love you Brian

Brian: Aw, why, thank ye' (in lingering Southern accent)

Audience goes "awww"

Stephanie: And we wanna know how you feel about the Blink 182 video?

Kevin: I think it's absolutely hilarous

Brian: You know, I haven't seen that. My 4 other brothers have told me about it, but I haven't seen it. [personal note: Awww- "4 other brothers" LOL. I think "Aww" needs to be redefined as a legitimate word in the Backstreet dictionary. We fans say this often enough. LOL]

Nick: I think it's…

Kevin: It's funny

AJ: I think it's funny

Nick: …I think it's cool to be able to… I mean, I guess it's a compliment that they're doing this in the first place…in a way…kind of a compliment (shrugs his shoulders, looks to Kevin)

Kevin: I guess, you know…you know you've made it when people start making fun of you

Nick: (smiling) Exactly.

Kevin: I like the little dog in the video.

Nick: We're waiting for Weird Al…

Kevin: We're waiting for Weird Al to come out with…(drifts off)

AJ: (in reference to the dog in the video) …the little thing around his neck? Yeah, I like the little dog in the video

Howie: …to be able to be light-hearted about it

Nick: It's funny

Stephanie: Thank you

AJ: Your welcome

Fan: Hi, my name is Chris (sp?) and this is Brenna, and us and Samantha and Shelly wanted to know if you'd go to McDonald's with us after the concert?

Nick: AJ just might (points to AJ)

Kevin (repeating): AJ might. He likes to…

Nick: He's always crazy about McDonald's

Fan: We'll pay for it

Audience laughs

AJ: Don't worry about it

Nick: (looking across to AJ) Hey you got a date, bud? (laughs)

AJ: What? No, I'll keep that in mind.

Brian: Hey we'll tip you on some information. We're talking to McDonald's so come the millennium year, uh, you might see the Backstreet Boys on a little lunch…what do you call it?

AJ: Happy meal

Brian: …happy meal box

Audience cheers

Brian: (gestures toward AJ) …'cause of AJ

Kevin: We might be singing a…McDonald's jingle or somethin'. We don't know. We might write one.

Nick raises his arms in front of him, and rocks side to side playfully. Audience and fan laugh.

Nick: …probably what we'll do, too. [personal note: whether he's referring to that silly thing he just did or writing a jingle, not sure, but I wouldn't put it past them. LOL]

Fan: Okay, thanks guys

AJ: You're welcome

Fan: Nick, how many tattoos do you have?

Nick: (shows a peace sign) I just have two.

Fan: Good.

Nick: (slightly laughs, looking briefly aside to Howie): she's like, "good".

Fan: Hi

Kevin: Hello Boys: Hi

Fan: I'm with KLUC and my name is ? Garcia and I was just wondering what you guys thought of the millennium and computers, with the Y2K thing?

AJ: Y2K. Hm…

Brian: I don't wanna be in an airplane

AJ: I think it's, I, I, I think it's kind of…getting blown out of…

Fan: You think it's true or false?

AJ: I think it's false. I think it's getting all blown out of proportion and everybody's just freaking out (Nick: I don't) 'cause it's the year 2000, it's a brand new century, but

Fan: You guys are not gonna prepare for it?

AJ: Oh, no! I mean…

Howie: If a couple computers shut down…

Kevin: Yeah, we've got a bomb shelter. We've got canned food (Brian smiles like a lighted Christmas tree at Kevin's reply)

AJ: Yeah, we've got canned food…

Nick: As long as my Sega Dreamcast don't fall out, I'm fine [personal note: there's something endearing about Nick and his obsession with video games. LOL]

Boys and audience laugh

Kevin: Naw, we think that it's been blown out of proportion a little bit, but you know…

Nick: I don't…

Kevin: We're gonna be careful and

Fan: Okay, thank you…thank you

Kevin: …be home (slightly laughs)

Nick: I'll be in the mountains somewhere

Fan: Hi, my name is Natalie. I just wanted to know if you guys, like, ever, like, I mean, if you guys get along while you're on tour or if you, like, fight or anything?

Camera shows slow motion of AJ appearing to pretend to flick his fingers playfully against Brian's head. Brian tosses his head to the left in reaction. Audience laughs

Kevin: Sure we fight.

Howie: …like brothers

Kevin: We fight all the time, just like brothers, just like best friends have fights, you know. Not always perfect. You gotta quarrel, you gotta argue, you gotta get those things out in the open and talk about it, so…

Fan: I just wanted to say that, um, my sister loves you guys and she was the one that got me into you guys' music when I, like, didn't like you guys at first so I started loving you. I started loving you and she plays your songs every day and I know all the words to your music and everything and it's just like, it's right here inside of me …I'm gonna cry (gets emotional)

Howie: Thank you

Kevin: (laughs slightly) Aw, thank you

AJ: Thank you, Sweetheart

Nick: Thank you

Fan: Thank you

AJ: Your welcome

Fan: My name is Sarah and I was just wondering, um, like, you guys like, like being in the public's eye all the time because I've seen AJ last night.

Nick: He likes to be in the public eye!

AJ: I, I don't mind it. I mean, it's weird for me, like, for me personally, when I was in high school. I was, and I'm not saying I'm not now, but I was a real nerd back in high school

Howie: you had no life, AJ (laughs slightly)

AJ: I know, that's why I'm not saying I'm not now, but um, it's just, you know, I like the attention because to me it shows how much people care about us and how much we've affect people and that means a lot to me, personally, that we can affect people in a positive way and not a negative way and any opportunities that we get to sign autographs, take pictures, whether it's a day off or not, I would love to do it, you know. You know, there is days, like we said earlier, where we just wanna be by ourselves, but if we can't, I don't mind it, you know. I mean then again, I'm working out my taxes so I'm kind of, you know, a target for tracking so (laughs slightly) but, I don't mind it. I think it's cool.

Kevin: Sometimes, though, it's like, when you walk out of your hotel room or when we come off stage, sometimes for us, it's like, we're never really off stage. Sometimes you need a break 'cause when you're walking, like, from the bus into the hotel, you know and we have a lot of fans that want to meet us and talk to us, when we go out to a restaurant, or just when we go, just, out to a movie or somethin' and people want to talk to you. People, you know, they see us all the time and they think that they know us and a lot of people around the world know more about us almost than we know about ourselves so it's like, everybody kind of wants to talk to you and sometimes it can wear you out. Sometimes I'll just get back to my room. I'll be like, "Whew! Wow, I talked to everybody!", you know. So…sometimes you need to make time for yourself and just…

Howie: It's the hardest when you're getting off the bus at 5 o'clock in the morning…

Brian: (being silly in a high-pitched voice) Howie!

Audience laughs

Howie: …my hair's like Medusa, hangin' all over the place, and trying to…

Nick: (laughs slightly) …Medusa.

Howie: …trying to be on camera…

Kevin: "Uh, I just woke up…"

Fan: Okay, I'm just gonna see you guys tonight, and I love you Brian

Brian: Thank you. I like your sandals

Fan: Thank you (laughs slightly)

AJ: Yeah, same ones Rok's got

Kevin: Yeah, we're gonna be standin' up now and ya'll can snap away (take pictures). Thank you guys so much. Enjoy the show tonight. God bless!

AJ: Have fun you guys…have fun, Sweetheart

Audience calls out to the Boys and people begin taking pictures as the Boys rise and stretch. The Boys stand behind the table, arms on each other's shoulders, posing together for the audience. During this session, audience members are yelling:

"Nick, take off your hat!"

"Nick, will you take off your hat?!"

"Please take it off!"

Nick: I'm not crazy. I woke up, put my hat on this morning. I look like Medusa

Nick takes his hat off briefly, and the audience cheers.

Nick: Like Howie said, "Medusa"

Kevin: Medusa

Audience member asks, "Hey, Nick! What's your screenname?"

Kevin: Thank you guys

Brian: So whose coming to the golf tournament tomorrow?

Audience screams, "ME!"

AJ: Thank you guys. Hopefully we don't do bad

Boys finally exit right, the audience still calling out their names.
