Backstreet Boys first started off like five normal guys living in Florida and Kentucky. A.J. McLean was taking singing lessons from a vocal coach which Howie Dorough had also used. When the vocal coach introduced them to each other they began talking and singing together while waiting to audition for numerous jobs with Nickelodeon. They soon met Nick Carter who also loved to sing and had already had a job singing in the halftime shows for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They thought they sounded pretty good together, so they began looking for people to sign them to their record label. They met Louis J. Pearlman who was starting a record label called TransContinental Records. Lou (or Big Papa as the Boys like to call him) and the guys decided that they needed to add more members to what was soon to be Backstreet Boys. The Backstreet Boys had some auditions and found two more members, but then one of Lou's friends introduced Kevin Richardson to the group. At the time, Kevin was working at Disney World in Orlando, Florida playing Aladdin and a Ninja Turtle in many Disney shows. Kevin auditioned and the guys thought he was great, so he replaced one of the other members. They were still holding auditions for one or more members, so Kevin called his cousin Brian Littrell (on April 20 of 1993) who was still living in Kentucky. Brian went to Florida right away to audition for the group. He had had singing experiences before, singing in churches. The guys as well as Lou thought Brian was perfect. That is how Backstreet Boys was formed.
